letting go [06.16.08]

acrylics, painting knife, & brush

4’ x2’ canvas [gifted]

My most vivid memories are often tied to strong emotions. They are usually the painful ones that are a bitch to untangle from negative emotions. Difficult, but not impossible to let go. Since when is anything worth having easy anyway?

mh barcode [10.23.05]

acrylics, painting knife, & painting tape

4’ x 2’ canvas [personal collection]

This was the very first original painting I ever did. It started off as my concept drawing for my tattoo; a play on the idea of being just another number. While it had to be simplified to translate ink to skin properly, the original sketch survived in this painting. The numbers are personal dates and the lines patterns reflect the ups and downs of my life.

change of heart [04.17.08]

acrylics, enamel [sally hanson nail polish],

painting knife, & brush on 6’ x 4’ canvas [sold]

It’s always been a struggle to figure out what it was I want out of life. There are so many things I’ve tried to convince myself that I wanted in the past, only to discover the desire to be superficial and based upon what other wanted for me.

To understand this aspect of myself has been a great victory. To know what I hold dear to my heart is within my own hands and not others. Now it’s just a matter of watching it change, grow, and in time, be able to set it free.
